Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard was forced to relinquish his man-of-the-match award for last night's 1-1 draw between England and Ukraine.

The Daily Mail says the Wembley stadium announcer was forced into an instant U-turn after naming Gerrard as Tuesday night's man of the match just after his sending-off.

He quickly changed his mind and handed the award to Chelsea ace Frank Lampard, who scored England's late equaliser from the penalty spot and took over from Gerrard as captain after the Liverpool man was shown the red card.
