Liverpool's Gerrard accepts Newcastle fans taunts

Gerrard, who was continually booed for his part in England's Euro 2008 debacle, opened the scoring with a first-half thunderbolt before Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel scored further goals as Rafael Benitez's men ran amok.

Asked if he had expected to be abused by supporters, Gerrard told Sky Sports 1: "Of course. All the other England lads have got to take the criticism.

"From now until we (England) get it right we are going to take a lot of criticism."
