Aston Villa are set to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson today.

The Sun says the England stopper has agreed a season's loan from Liverpool after Anfield boss Rafa Benitez did a U-turn.

But Carson, 21, will not be able to make his debut this weekend as Villa entertain Liverpool.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill had been told 'no deal' earlier this summer when asking about Carson's availability.

But Benitez has now decided he can afford to let his stopper go for a year.
