Liverpool's Carroll to complete West Ham medical today

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is expected to complete his West Ham United medical today.

The Daily Mail says the England international will tie up the formalities of his £15million move from Liverpool, having agreed personal terms on a six-year contract last month.

Such is the faith West Ham have in Carroll, they could end up investing more than £40m in him between now and 2019, given the size of the transfer fee and the wages they will pay him over the term of his deal.

Carroll had not given up hope of re-launching his career with Liverpool at the end of last season, but after discussions with manager Brendan Rodgers it became clear he would not have anything more than a bit part role back at Anfield.

Liverpool, who will take a £20m loss on the man they signed from Newcastle in January 2011.
