Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun is angry over the criticism he's receiving from Israeli pundits.
Benayoun battled back from a hamstring injury to feature for Dror Kashtan's side in Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Greece in World Cup qualifying Group Two.
Benayoun and Co are now preparing for the return match in Heraklion just one point behind the Greeks and second-placed Switzerland, but the former West Ham man believes their efforts are being undermined by the public sniping of ex-national team figures.
"I do everything to play on the national team, to be in shape. I risk my health only for the national team," he told haaretz.com.
"The spectators who supported me and the love of the fans made me play despite my situation, and in the end, what do we get?
"One big display of scorn by the spectators and a pile of commentators, made up of former national team coaches and players, who pick us apart from the first moment rather than engaging in real analysis.
"Those same commentators jumped after the equaliser (by Omer Golan on Saturday). It's a disgrace.
"It's hard for them to see me bringing the national squad to the World Cup. It's hard for them to see me making history, something they failed to do. It's hard for them to see people winning. Those same former national team coaches and players are waiting for just one thing - our fall."
