Liverpool have been dealt a blow with news that promising youngster Jonjo Shelvey will be out of action for up to three months.
The 18-year old, who has played nine times in the league this season, was having a slight problem with his knee and it has been confirmed that he will have to sit out for essentially the remainder of the season.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has shown plenty of faith in the former Charlton Athletic man and was disappointed for both the player and the club.
"He has done well so it is a disappointment for everyone," said Dalglish.
Shelvey added on the club's official website: "I'm a bit down at the moment but I'm just hoping now I can come back stronger.
"I am now going to take a 12-week rehabilitation and hopefully I'll be back soon."
