Liverpool youngster Shelvey sidelined for three months

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has revealed youngster Jonjo Shelvey has been ruled out of action for twelve weeks with a knee injury. Earlier on Thursday it had been hinted that Shelvey faced a spell on the sidelines with the knee problem.

Further scans have confirmed the Reds worst fears that the injury is a long-term one for the former Charlton starlet.

The 18 year old admitted it was a blow to pick up the injury which is set to rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

"I'm a bit down at the moment but I'm just hoping now I can come back stronger," Shelvey told the club's official website.

"I am now going to take a 12-week rehabilitation and hopefully I'll be back soon."

Dalglish confirmed everyone was disappointed for the highly-rated midfielder.

"He has done well so it is a disappointment for everyone," noted Dalglish.
