Liverpool youngster Ryan Flynn impressing at Wrexham

Liverpool youngster Ryan Flynn admits being involved with the senior team in preseason has him desperate for more action.

Flynn, 20, recalls playing alongside club captain Steven Gerrard in their friendly against Tranmere Rovers, telling liverpoolfc.tv: "It was good.

"When he came on the pace of the game picked up. It's the way he plays - it makes the whole team play quicker. You can see why he is the best player and the captain.

"I was in the game and focused, so I didn't really notice when he came on. But after five minutes I thought, 'The pace has really picked up.'

"You don't think about it too much until afterwards when people say, 'You've played with Gerrard.' Then you think, 'Oh yeah, I have!'

"I have found the games I have played really good. The problem is, once you've had it you want more. Games aren't easy to come by though because the first team is brilliant!"

Flynn will continue his loan spell with Wrexham for a second month under former Kop striker Dean Saunders, and the talented Scot has made a big impression at the Racecourse Ground.

"I spoke to Dean a couple of days ago and he is very pleased with Ryan," coach Gary Ablett told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"He has done very well for Wrexham. He is enjoying regular football and he is a player with a tremendous attitude."
