Any move to Juventus for Xabi Alonso will depend on Liverpool convincing Aston Villa to sell their captain Gareth Barry.

The Sun says Juve had director general Jean-Claude Blanc in Merseyside yesterday to try and broker a deal for the 26-year-old Spanish midfielder.

But the Anfield club will not do business unless Juve meet their asking price.

And if they fail to tempt Aston Villa into selling Gareth Barry, they will knock the deal on the head entirely.
