Liverpool winger Mane guides Senegal into AFCON quarters

Sadio Mane was again on the scoresheet as Senegal booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Senegal defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in Franceville, Gabon to make it two from two which has them on top of Group B with six points and a goal difference of plus 4.

Liverpool star Mane tapped into an empty net in the ninth minute when Henri Saivet's cross-shot rolled perfectly into his path at the back post for his second goal of the tournament.

The Lions of Teranga doubled their advantage four minutes later when Newcastle United's Saint-Etienne loanee Saivet produced a stunning 25-yard free-kick.

From then on it was all academic as Senegal got the job done to see themselves into the final eight of the competition.

In the other Group B fixture, Tunisia edged Algeria 2-1 to put themselves into second position ahead of the final group fixtures on Monday.

Senegal will meet Algeria in Franceville in a bid to stay top of the standings while Tunisia will look to qualify when they take on Zimbabwe in Libreville.
