Liverpool winger Stewart Downing is set for a West Ham United medical today.
The Daily Mail says Downing is set to have a medical at West Ham ahead of a £6million move from Liverpool.
The Hammers and Newcastle have both been keen to sign the former England winger but he seems set to reject a move back to the North East in favour of heading for London.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is open to the ex-Middlesbrough star moving on because he cannot guarantee him first-team football and seems content to take a big hit on a player who was bought for £20m in 2011.
