Liverpool are launching a bid for Fiorentina fullback Juan Manuel Vargas.
The Peru international is a favourite of Reds chief Damien Comolli, who believes he is the answer to the problems on the left side of their defence.
Corriere dello Sport says Liverpool are willing to offer €20 million for Vargas - a bid Fiorentina will struggle to refuse.
Manchester City have also been linked with Vargas since the end of the season.
