Liverpool are determined not to lose Steven Gerrard to Liverpool without a fight.

The Mirror says they will also reject any offer for their skipper Gerrard, despite strong hints yesterday from the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that the midfielder will be his number one target this summer.

Perez, who took Mourinho to Madrid last week as his new manager, revealed that he wants to add a couple of star names to his already glittering playing roster.

When asked about Gerrard and Inter Milan defender Maicon being top of his list he said: "We still have not discussed new signings but both are amongst the best players in their positions.

"I think we already have stars in our squad, what we are certainly going to do is sign two or three great players to complete the team."
