Liverpool will go higher than latest £66M bid to sign Naby Keita

Liverpool are prepared to go HIGHER for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita.

The Reds have been unsuccessful in their pursuit to this point, failing in their most recent approach which was worth around £66m.

But now, the Mirror reports Liverpool are ready to increase their bid to £70m as they try and secure Keita's signature.

The midfielder is thought to have a £50m release clause that can be activated next summer.

Liverpool want him now and will make a decision on their next move next week.

However, RB Leipzig owner Dietrich Mateschitz said: "Lately we got a €75m [£66million] offer for Naby Keita. No way! He has a contract and he will accomplish it.

“To sell him would not only be a proof of distrust to our fans but also the wrong sign for our players like Timo Werner, who is in demand too."
