Liverpool had Stoke City defender Marc Wilson on their shopping list this season.
The Daily Star Sunday says the Reds were considering a January bid for Stoke defender Wilson – before he broke his leg.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had earmarked the Irishman as the perfect solution to his left-back problem.
But Wilson, 25 was injured in the draw with Sunderland late last month and is out until February, which rules out a move to Anfield.
Potters boss Tony Pulis said: “It was a massive blow because he caught the eye of the top clubs.”
