Liverpool medicos will examine Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel later today to determine the extent of injuries sustained during World Cup qualifying matches last night.

Torres was substituted after 17 minutes during Spain's Group Five encounter in Belgium, while Babel made way for Ibrahim Afellay after 27 minutes of Holland's 1-0 win in Norway.

Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton this morning said: "As soon as Fernando and Ryan return to Melwood today they will be assessed by our medical staff and only then will we be able to diagnose the extent of the injuries and the timescales involved."
