Liverpool to wait on new Sturridge deal

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says the club will wait until the end of the season before talking about any new contracts.

It has been reported that the Reds are set to reward Daniel Sturridge with a new deal after scoring 19 goals in 22 appearances this season but Rodgers insists nothing will be done until the 2013/14 campaign is complete.

"There will be no contracts talked about until the summer. Our focus is the club and not any individual whether it is the player or the manager," Rodgers said.

"Daniel has been outstanding since he came here and I am sure the owners may well look at that come the summer but he has shown the consistency for over a year to be a world-class striker."

Sturridge, who joined from Chelsea in January 2013, is under contract until 2018 but could land improved terms for his blistering form since arriving at Anfield.
