Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is pushing to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Daily Express says the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker has been in superlative form this season and has come into view for Tottenham, as Andre Villas-Boas is preparing for the worst case scenario if Gareth Bale leaves.
The Reds are willing to let Martin Skrtel, who has attracted interest from Anzhi and Zenit St Petersburg, leave in order to facilitate a move for Mkhitaryan who could fetch up to £10m.
Skrtel's agent Karol Ksonto was coy about his client's Liverpool future and suggested that the situation will be resolved at the end of the season.
Mkhitaryan is viewed as a possible successor to Steven Gerrard, who has been one of Liverpool's most consistent performers again this season.
