Liverpool unhappy with Mascherano ban

Liverpool are unhappy with the extra two-match ban given to Javier Mascherano over his dismissal at Manchester United last month.

The Sun says Liverpool reckoned yesterday's hearing was prejudiced by FA chairman Lord Triesman's recent endorsement of Steve Bennett's handling of the game.

Former FA compliance officer Graham Bean represented Liverpool in the case.

He moaned: "Javier Mascherano has been made a scapegoat as a result of Ashley Cole's display of dissent for Chelsea at Tottenham.

"The FA have been wholly inconsistent. Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor received only a one game ban for failing to leave the field after being sent off during last year's Carling Cup final.

"We also feel that Lord Triesman was entirely wrong to comment on Javier's case before it came before the FA."
