Liverpool U18 coach Gerrard 'proud' as his kids win Everton showdown

Liverpool U18 coach Steven Gerrard was delighted with his young charges for their derby win over Everton on Friday.

Liverpool dominated possession but found themselves a goal down just before half-time after an effort from Everton striker Anthony Gordon.

But with 20 minutes remaining two goals from Curtis Jones, one a brilliant half-volley from a corner, turned the match around within the space of two minutes.

And Rafael Camacho added a third for Liverpool late on to secure the win at Kirkby academy.

"I don't think anything will ever replace being out there yourself and playing, especially in front of all the supporters," said former Reds captain Gerrard.

"To win a derby at Goodison [Park] or Anfield is a special feeling but I felt every bit of that.

"I am happy and just pleased for the boys because they deserved it and I am so proud of them tonight."
