Liverpool, Tottenham target Bony set to commit to Swansea

Wilfried Bony has indicated that he is on the verge of signing a new contract with Swansea City.

The 25-year old Ivory Coast striker joined the Welsh club for £12million from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem last summer and even though he comes out of contract in 2017, is looking to commit for the long-term.

Bony, scorer of 25 goals in his debut campaign with the Swans, has been a target for the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Monaco in recent times but insists that the next portion of career certainly belongs at the Liberty Stadium.

"If I wanted to go, I would have done," Bony said. "But there has never been anything other than speculation about the departure in Monaco, Liverpool or Tottenham.

"I'm fine in Swansea. It is even possible that I extend my contract.

"Admittedly, I have been less effective than last season, but I'm not worried. I play in a team that is ranked high, and there is less pressure on the attackers.

"People trust me, and for a striker, you know how it works. You might just need one or two goals to get going again."

Bony has had a somewhat slow beginning to the 2014/15 season with just one goal in seven Premier League appearances which came in the weekend's 2-2 draw with Newcastle United. It was his 18th league goal in 41 outings for the Swans.
