Liverpool are working the transfer market early as they look to forge a title pursuit in 2015/16.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds are reportedly on the verge of signing Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton after having a £12.5million bid accepted.
Right-back Clyne, whose fee could rise to £15m, would be a like-for-like replacement for veteran Glen Johnson who will leave Merseyside this summer.
If and when Clyne puts pen to paper with the Reds, he will become Brendan Rodgers' sixth signing of the transfer window following Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan and Joe Gomez.
