Liverpool to hand deal to trialist Alex Manninger

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to offer terms to veteran goalkeeper Alex Manninger.

The Liverpool Echo says the Reds are set to announce the signing of Manninger on a one-year contract.

The 39-year-old has been training with the Reds at Melwood following his release from FC Augsburg, and is now set to be Jurgen Klopp's third-choice 'keeper for the new season, behind Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

The Austrian flew with the squad on Thursday for their US tour, and his signing should be confirmed in the next 24 hours. He could feature against Chelsea in Pasadena next week.

Manninger is familiar with the Premier League having played for Arsenal between 1997 and 2002.
