Liverpool are tightlipped on Sotirios Kyrgiakos' knee injury suffered in action for Greece this week.
Reports have claimed the 30-year-old, who joined the Reds from AEK Athens in August, could be facing a lengthy lay-off.
Kyrgiakos was injured in the first half of his country's World Cup qualifying win over Luxembourg.
A Liverpool statement read: "Sotirios Kyrgiakos will be examined by our medical staff when he returns to Liverpool.
"Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres did not train with the rest of the squad on Thursday but will continue to receive treatment and will be assessed again on Friday."
