Liverpool are joining the battle for want-away Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was confident of landing the Ivory Coast star, who has found himself surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge this season under new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

But talkSPORT says Liverpool have now made an enquiry for the 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Kenny Dalglish views Kalou as a financially sound alternative to a possible bid for Darren Bent, who could cost in excess of £25m, and likes the fact he can play as either a second striker or out wide.
