Liverpool teammates queue to urge Suarez to stay

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will lean on some of Luis Suarez's teammates to convince him to stay. Rodgers won't lack support from the rest of the first team, with Brazilian Lucas Leiva - one Suarez' closest dressing room allies - confident his big buddy will stay, says The Sun. The two families spend much of their spare time together, and when Lucas ruptured a thigh last term, Suarez had a get well message under his shirt when he bagged the winner against Hearts.

Lucas admitted: "I try not to ask him much about his future. When you are close to someone it's always hard to give an opinion.

"But Luis was our best player last season and very important and it would be great if he was repeating those performances for us this time.

"Of course we want him to keep playing for us, as we've seen how good a player he is over the past few years.

"We saw how much difference he made for us, especially last season, and hopefully there will be a happy ending for everyone by him staying at Liverpool."

Spaniard Jose Enrique is another close ally of Suarez, and the Kop left back will also be bending his ear over the next few days in Australia, where the Reds play Melbourne Victory on Wednesday.

Enrique added: "Luis is an amazing player for us and it will be good to see him. Hopefully he will be staying - that would be much better for all of us."
