Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk says he has no regrets over his attempts to move to Liverpool last summer.
Recalled to the Holland squad this week, Van Dijk spoke to local reporters about his transfer window saga.
"It's never fun if you're injured. All I could do was get fit and hook up as fast as possible. I'm glad it's over," said the defender, describing his summer.
"Much learned, much heard, much seen: a whole life experience. I am glad I'm fit again and that I can give the full one hundred percent."
On his Liverpool attempts, he added "I have no regrets.
"Of course, I wanted to go one step up, but eventually Southampton did not want to let me go, but you're a professional, so now I'll give everything to the club. Halfway through the season, maybe we can see what's possible."
