Liverpool's reported interest in Rennes right-back Rod Fanni is set to be hijacked by French giants Marseille.
The 29-year old defender is a strong target for the Reds but Marseille boss Didier Deschamps is convinced the former Nice man will remain in France rather than move to England.
"I do not know if it will happen in the coming hours, but in the coming days? Hopefully," Deschamps told French TV. "He wants to come. I think my bosses will do what is necessary for that to happen."
