Liverpool talks on the cards for uncertain Allen

Joe Allen has revealed that he will speak to the Liverpool thus summer regarding his future at the club.

The Welsh midfielder was used sparingly by the Reds throughout the 2015/16 season, starting just eight times in the Premier League, and coming off the bench in the big games in the second half of the campaign.

Allen, 26, generally had a positive impact whenever used by Jurgen Klopp but admits he wants to play more frequently and will soon sit down with the club to discuss what lies ahead for him.

"I'm sure it is something the club will have on their to-do list at some point," said former Swansea City star Allen, who is preparing for Euro2016 with Wales.

"As soon as the season finished with Liverpool I said to myself, 'I don't want to have any distractions and I am fully focussed and engaged on all things Wales'. That's where I am at the moment.

"If the club want to speak to me then I am not going to pie them. We have had an intense season and I'm sure there will be a week or two after the Euros before any discussions are had.

"As a footballer you want to play every minute of every game. When you don't it can be disappointing, that's natural for anyone. It's how you react.

"In January there was a conversation with the club in terms of what the future did hold for me, if I would feature more or if I would feature in the plans moving forward.

"They made it clear at that stage I wouldn't be moving anywhere.

"I knew where I stood and it was good to have that conversation and know that I had the second half of the season to look forward to with Liverpool."
