Liverpool to take on Roma in the USA

Liverpool have confirmed they will meet AS Roma in a preseason friendly in the USA this summer.

The Reds will take on the Italians at Boston's Fenway Park on July 23 this year marking the second occasion the two clubs have met at the venue.

The fixture will act as part of the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup which also sees Liverpool come up against Olympiakos in Chicago on July 27, Manchester City in New York on July 30 and AC Milan in Charlotte on August 2.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner said: "Liverpool FC and AS Roma are two of the most highly regarded clubs in all of football and we're thrilled to welcome them back to Boston and showcase some of the world's top talent playing the 'Beautiful Game' right here on the pitch at Fenway Park.

"The atmosphere at their first Fenway match was electric and with both clubs' passionate supporters, tremendous worldwide following and strong ties to the city, the rematch is sure to be memorable."

Both Liverpool and Fenway Park are owned by John W. Henry's Fenway Sports Group who also runs Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox who call Fenway their home.
