Liverpool striker Torres sends condolences to Jarque family

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has sent his condolences to the family of former teammate Dani Jarque.

The Espanyol captain, who played alongside El Nino when Spain won the European U19 Championships in 2002, died of a heart attack following a training session in Italy.

Torres told his official website: "In these hard times I want to express my sincere condolences and I offer all my support to Dani's family, friends and Espanyol teammates.

"I shared many special moments alongside Dani when playing for Spain's youth teams. He showed himself to be both a special person and a special footballer. I'm dismayed by the news and my thoughts are with his family during this difficult period."
