Liverpool striker Suarez: I never bit Chiellini, my teeth fell into him!

In the defence against his FIFA ban, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez insists he never took a bite from Giorgio Chiellini's shoulder.

Suarez has been banned from all football activity for four months after the panel dismissed his argument and concluded that his actions were 'deliberate, intentional and without provocation.'

But in a letter from June 25 detailing the Uruguayan's defence, Suarez insisted he had simply 'lost balance'.

"In no way it happened how you have described, as a bite or intent to bite," he wrote.

"After the impact ... I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent.

"At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth."

Mexican match referee Marco Rodriguez confirmed he had failed to spot the bite in Italy's penalty area, as had his fellow officials.

"I haven't seen the incident because the ball was in another sector of the pitch," Rodriguez wrote.
