Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer feels Daniel Sturridge failed to deliver a reaction against Swansea City on Sunday following his Europa League snub.
Sturridge was controversially left on the bench during Liverpool's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Villarreal in the Europa League semi-final first leg clash on Thursday but the striker was handed a start at Swansea on Sunday.
However, Sturridge failed to impress as Liverpool suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat on the day, prompting Shearer has gone on to state that the English striker missed a wonderful opportunity to produce a positive performance for Jurgen Klopp.
Shearer told BBC's Match of the Day: "I think that's polite to be honest.
"Klopp left him out midweek and was probably looking for a reaction today. He probably didn't get the right... the one he wanted.
"His touch was poor, his distribution was poor."
