Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is open to a return to Newcastle United, it has been revealed.

The Evening Chronicle says it is believed that the Geordie boy would be open to a move back to St James' Park.

Sources close to United this morning suggested there had been no bids put in for Carroll nor had Liverpool offered any type of cut-price package involving their former striker.

Speaking on the Andy Carroll rumours Carroll's agent Mark Curtis said: "There is no truth in them."

But given the last day madness which involved Carroll swapping Tyneside for Merseyside last January, fans of both clubs will not be ruling anything out at this stage.
