Liverpool striker Carroll hoping to make emotional Newcastle clash

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll hopes to face Newcastle United this week.

He was back in the stands at Anfield on Saturday after sitting out of the 5-0 win over Birmingham City.

A source close to Carroll told the Evening Chronicle: "Andy is obviously hoping to play and see his mates again. He's still a Newcastle lad through and through and was actually back at St James' Park just last week to watch the Man United game and wanting his mates to win.

"There's no bad blood between Andy and anybody at Newcastle, he is still friendly with everybody at the club. And that's why he's so keen to play on Sunday.

"But he knows that the final decision rests with Kenny Dalglish and after the 5-0 win over Birmingham, there's no guarantee that anybody will walk straight back into the side."
