The Daily Star Sunday says the sacking of club legend Kenny Dalglish, meanwhile, has put Liverpool's move for Wigan's Diame, 24, on hold.
Ex-Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, Wigan's Roberto Martinez and sacked Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas are the main men in the frame for the Anfield hot-seat.
