Liverpool and Tottenham are among Premiership clubs alerted to the potential availability of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan.
Departing Atletico Madrid finance chief Fernando Garcia Abasolo, who announced his resignation this week, has revealed they would "find it difficult" to reject any decent offer for Forlan.
"When you're down €20 million, it is very difficult for them to reject a bid of €50 million," said Abasolo.
Forlan signed a new deal with Atletico last week and attracted formal enquiries from both Liverpool and Spurs during the summer.
