Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard admits the global interest in the Premiership "blows me away".

"When I started in the first team, the fan mail came from just within Liverpool," he told liverpoolfc.tv.

"But over the last three or four years, the letters have come from places where you wouldn't imagine anyone knows your name, places in the Far East, Iceland, Norway, Germany.

"It adds even more pressure to your performance, because I know I'm not just getting watched by Liverpool fans in this country. I'm getting watched by every Liverpool fan around the world.

"What has changed in the past 10 years is that they all have access to live games. There are so many channels covering football from Sky to Al Jazeera. Everywhere I go, whether on holiday or around Europe with Liverpool, everyone is talking about the games in such detail.

"The interest blows me away at times. I'll admit it is really flattering, and I have to pinch myself and have a good think of where I am. But the people I have around me, like my family, keep me humble, they keep my feet on the ground."
