Liverpool skipper Gerrard insists England can pull off Euros shock

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard insists England are capable of winning the Euros.

He wants the Three Lions to learn lessons from the way Chelsea snatched this year's Champions League and how Liverpool did it seven years ago.

The Kop midfielder said: "It goes to show in tournaments, when you know you're not favourites and there are other top sides about, you need to battle hard and go where it hurts to get the prizes.

"I don't think I've ever won a big trophy when it's all been pretty and nice. Recently, in cup finals against Cardiff and West Ham, we weren't the best side on the day but we stuck in there, had that belief and it turned for us.

"We have also got a responsibility to improve our level of performance. If we perform like we did in South Africa, we're going home early.

"If we want to achieve and do what Liverpool did in 2005 and Chelsea this year, we have to perform well but also do what those sides did well in their finals."
