Liverpool signing Joel Matip can't wait to play for his new club at their historic ground Anfield.

The 25-year-old Cameroon defender, who joined the Reds on a free transfer from Schalke, took part in his first training session with his new teammates at Melwood on Sunday and is now keen to make his way down Anfield Road so he can get the full experience of the famous club, just as he saw in the Reds' 4-3 Europa League win over Borussia Dortmund last season

"I saw it – it was fantastic," the centre-back told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It spoke [volumes] for Liverpool. It was a specific example of Liverpool.

"I was happy [at the thought] that I could maybe be a part of this next season.

"I am very excited to play at Anfield. It will be a very special feeling. I can't wait to go down Anfield Road and into the stadium – I can't wait for it!"
