Liverpool new signing Charles Itandje was rejected by Merseyside rivals Everton only a week ago, it has been revealed.

The Mirror says Lens shot-stopper has joined the Kop as cover for Jose Reina, clearing the way for Scott Carson to join Aston Villa.

Itandje had been on Merseyside just a few days before in a bid to win a move to Everton as competition for Tim Howard - only to be rejected.

Itandje spent a couple of days at Everton's headquarters but did not impress enough to be offered the move. Now he has sealed a dream transfer to Anfield.
