Liverpool show ambition with Falcao attempt

Liverpool have shown their ambition with a move for AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao.

The London Evening Standard says Liverpool made an inquiry to sign Falcao but dropped their interest after being told he is destined for European champions Real Madrid.

The forward scored 11 goals in his first season at Monaco before sustaining a knee injury which ruled him out for the rest of the season and ended any hopes of starring for Colombia at the World Cup.

Brendan Rodgers was hopeful of luring Falcao to Anfield ahead of the new campaign as he looks to plug the void left by 31-goal Luis Suarez, but an approach was knocked back.

And Liverpool will not follow up their initial inquiry after they were firmly told the Colombian is headed for the Bernabeu.
