Liverpool seek Man Utd peace talks over Suarez controversy

Liverpool hope to take the sting out of the controversy with Manchester United over the Luis Suarez case.

The Daily Mail says Liverpool will seek peace talks with Manchester United to defuse the furore surrounding Luis Suarez ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on February 11.

The match will be the first meeting between English football's fiercest rivals since Suarez was found guilty of racially abusing United's Patrice Evra at Anfield on October 15.

United supporters have already started chanting inflammatory songs about the incident - most notably at Craven Cottage last month - and the potential for tension between fans is huge.

But Liverpool are aware of the sensitivities and plan to discuss strategies with the United hierarchy to ensure the game passes off as calmly as possible.
