Liverpool seek cut-price deal for Malaga keeper Guillermo Ochoa

Liverpool are hoping to do business with Malaga over goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa for a cut-price fee.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers sees the 29 year-old Mexican football icon as ideal competition for his current No1 Simon Mignolet.

A Bosman arrival from Ajaccio over the summer, Ochoa has been restricted to backup duty at Malaga, with Carlos Kameni firmly established as first-choice.

Rodgers is ready to offer Ochoa an escape route and hopes to do business for no less than €5 million in January.

Almost 12 months ago, Ochoa revealed: "There was some communication with Liverpool, but I let everything be handled by my agent and my club's president. My job is to remain focused and think about my team, Ajaccio.

"There is no doubt, though, that this is a dream I have had since I came to Europe, since I started playing football."
