Liverpool secure services of Wycombe wunderkind Ibe

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Wycombe Wanderers rising star Jordan Ibe.

The highly-rated 16-year old has been a target for the Reds in recent months and they have now secured his services for an initial fee of £750,000 which could rise to £1million which has delighted Wycombe boss Gary Waddock.

"It's a fantastic move for him. He's a phenomenal talent which is why we gave him a chance to show what he can do at first-team level," he said.

"Obviously we wanted to keep him, but we didn't want to stand in the way of an opportunity he deserves. I have no doubt in my mind that he will go on to become a big star and I will be keeping a close eye on his progress.

"I would like to wish him and his family all the best for the future."

Ibe rose to prominence when he became the youngest ever player to play for Wycombe in the Football League earlier this season as well as being the youngest player to score for the Adams Park outfit in their history.
