Liverpool scouts are urging Kenny Dalglish to pull the trigger on buying Universidad de Chile striker Eduardo Vargas.
The People says Dalglish sent a top spy to watch the Universidad de Chile star in action last weekend and Vargas's camp claim they are now in talks about a January move.
Vargas is rated in the £15million class and the Kop's interest comes as a shock after splashing out on Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez in that department this year.
However, Dalglish is always planning ahead and will not want to lose the 22-year-old to a rival.
Arsenal are linked with Vargas while Inter Milan are officially in negotiations for him to move next month.
Dalglish's trusted assistants have reported back that Vargas, an exciting attacking talent who could blend well with Uruguayan Suarez, is worth an investment if the bidding starts.
