Liverpool's Sturridge: I apologised to Man City's Lescott for apparent dive

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge says he did not dive on purpose during his side's 2-2 draw with Manchester City today.

The former City and Chelsea man went down in the area when alongside Joleon Lescott and picked up a yellow card for his troubles but insists he is not a diver and immediately apologised to his opponent for going down easily.

"I apologised to Joleon," he said.

"It wasn't that I actually dived, I just lost my footing, and I apologised to him, and obviously there is no hard feelings.

"I'm not a player who dives."

Sturridge scored his fourth goal in six matches for Liverpool when he fired home in the 29th minute as the Reds came from behind to take a 2-1 lead before conceding late to Sergio Aguero.
