Liverpool's Rodgers welcomes Chelsea challenge

Brendan Rodgers was not shying away from Liverpool's Capital One Cup semi-final opponents on Wednesday night.

The Reds drew Premier League leaders Chelsea in the final four after accounting for AFC Bournemouth 3-1 at Goldsands Stadium but Rodgers was not too perturbed when learning of the match-up.

"It will be a fantastic tie," Rodgers told Sky Sports.

"If you want to win this competition you have to play against the good sides.

"The most important thing was getting through, but our performance was brilliant.

"We're into the semi-final, it's over two legs and it didn't matter who we got. We needed to get there, it's Chelsea and we look forward to it."

A brace from Raheem Sterling and a club-first goal for Lazar Markovic allowed the Reds to skip away to a three-goal lead over the Championship club before Dan Gosling gave the Cherries some hope just before the hour-mark in Dorset.
