Liverpool's Rodgers still holding hope of top-four finish

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is remaining positive of clinching a Champions League spot for next season.

The Reds dropped five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United after losing 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday.

?Juan Mata's brace gave the Red Devils the ascendency either side of Steven Gerrard's brazen red card before Daniel Sturridge pulled one back for the Reds.

?It wasn't enough to gain a result against their arch enemies but Rodgers feels there is enough in Liverpool's tank to continue placing pressure on the top four, particularly United.

?"It is a big challenge but when I looked at the 10 games that were remaining, it was always going to be difficult to win all 10. We built in a loss and some draws," he said.

"We hoped to win this game against a rival but it is still very much possible. There are five points between us and them.

"We need to recover and use this as a springboard as we did when we last played them (their last league defeat back in mid-December).

"We are more than capable of winning the next game (at Arsenal)."?
