Brendan Rodgers was happy with the performance of Luis Suarez in Liverpool's 1-0 Capital One Cup loss to Manchester United on Wednesday night.
The Uruguayan striker returned to action with the Reds following a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last season and got through a full 90 minutes as the Anfield club were dumped from the league cup competition.
"He tired towards the end but was always a threat," he told Sky Sports 1.
"He did very well considering the amount of time he had been out.
"He is a fighter.
"He will recover now and get ready for the weekend."
Liverpool, sitting fifth on the Premier League table, face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
